Where is the Love? Reflecting on the War

War is largely out of control of the many and decided upon by the few. The few that are in power and further acquire it as the everyman sacrifices their lives for their superiors lack of vision. The human condition is complicated and so is violence.

The horrors of war have a cascading effect of further conflict for future generations, cycles of trauma begin amongst family systems, infrastructure is destroyed and construction must start over again.

The reality of this world is still driven by scarcity, in our mindsets and actions. War is often for the increase of power for resource acquisition. It is the dirty and easy way to reset power systems by strong arming a weaker collective or nation.

As wars continue it is easy to lose hope in seeing all of the suffering and the powerlessness that accompanies not being able to help. Similarly to the lyrics of "Where is the Love." I find myself questioning just that. What love is there if we are to continue the cycles of primative violence?

I believe that Love is where we make it and we can choose it over the weaker conventions of violence. One person can not change the winds of fate of our species but if each of us were to side more so with love, each and everyday, collective violence would soon be an impossibility. It comes down to the choices we make. Similarly to how war has a cascading effect of societal dysfunction the love of individuals has the same power with an effect in the direction of peace.

Where is the Love? It is where you bring it into existence. Choose it over being swept up in violence through thought, word or action. The little acts count. So how can you be more loving in your life? The actions you take today could be the actions that inspire positive change across time, where the world begins to side exclusively with peace and no longer have the capacity for war. Like a series of dominos falling, start the pattern of love.

"It just ain't the same, old ways have changed New days are strange, is the world insane? If love and peace are so strong Why are there pieces of love that don't belong?

Nations droppin' bombs Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young So ask yourself, is the lovin' really gone?

So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin' in Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover

The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug If you never know truth then you never know love Where's the love, y'all, come on? (I don't know) Where's the truth, y'all, come on? (I don't know) Where's the love, y'all?

People killin', people dyin' Children hurt, hear them cryin' Can you practice what you preach Or would you turn the other cheek?

Father, Father, Father, help us Send some guidance from above 'Cause people got me, got me questionin' Where is the love (love)

Where is the love? (The love) Where is the love? (The love) Where is the love? (The love) Where is the love? (The love) Where is the love? (The love) Where is the love? (The love) Where is the love, the love, the love?"
